To God Be the Glory

Nick Foles spent the evening with the Plumstead Christian School community at our twelfth annual Founders Forum. The Nick Foles that came to Founders Forum was not just the retired and decorated NFL quarterback who was chosen to be the MVP of Superbowl LII in 2018, although he was all that. It was evident to every person in the crowd that God has used so many experiences both before and after that amazing Superbowl victory – some that tested Nick’s faith in really big ways – to bring about profound spiritual formation, and we are grateful that Foles spoke out of the depths of his experiences in a way that inspired us and gave God the glory. Nick’s depth of faith, humility, and kindness that he displayed on stage as he passionately shared the good news of Jesus Christ drew all of us in. Foles was vulnerable, and his transparency about such things as heartache, disappointment, injuries, and the challenges and joys of raising children impacted our community.

John Elton, our beloved varsity boys basketball coach, was honored as he officially retired from coaching at PCS after coaching at various levels within our boys basketball program for seventeen years. We will cherish the memories of John’s dedicated service to the school. While these memories include a lot of victories and even an exciting run for a state championship, they also include so many incredible memories of his passion and dedication to the boys. John embodied the school’s mission, and he used the sport of basketball and the relationships he forged with students to teach them to think biblically, serve effectively, and lead Christ-centered lives.
