Plumstead Christian School

Ages 3-5

As a parent of a little one, you’ve probably started looking into preschools and quickly realized how many options there are. Each one promises a good experience, but you’re trying to picture something more specific.

You want them to be known, loved, and cared for, especially as they step into a new environment. You’re also looking for a place that reflects the same faith and Christian values you’re building at home, while giving your child a strong start in learning.

At Plumstead Christian School, our preschool program for ages 3 to 5 is designed with these desires in mind. Your child will be welcomed into a setting where teachers guide them through daily routines, introduce early academic concepts in age-appropriate ways, and create space for them to learn more about God’s truth.

Learning Environment

From the moment your child enters the classroom, they step into a setting designed with young learners in mind. Each part of their day supports intellectual curiosity, builds social awareness, and reflects a consistent Biblical worldview.

A Nurturing Atmosphere Rooted in Faith

At PCS, faith is part of everyday life. Through Bible time, prayer, and teacher-led conversations, children begin to understand how to treat others and take part in a community shaped by Christian values.

Teachers model these values throughout the day, guiding students in both learning and faith formation.

A Strong Start in Early Learning

Students are introduced to early academic concepts through hands-on, multi-sensory experiences.

  • Learning centers focused on phonics, writing, and early math
  • Circle time with Bible lessons, calendar, and group discussion
  • Play-based activities that build vocabulary, coordination, and problem-solving
  • Small group interaction that encourages participation and collaboration
  • Large group instruction that prepares students for kindergarten and beyond

Preschool Leadership

Our preschool program is guided by a dedicated Preschool Director, Jennifer Weaver, who works closely with teachers to oversee curriculum, support classroom instruction, and create a consistent experience for families across each stage of the program. Families are welcome to reach out directly with questions about preschool placement, schedules, or the admissions process by contacting Mrs. Weaver at jweaver@plumsteadchristian.org or (215) 822-0187.

Teachers keep parents informed through regular updates and Glow & Grow reports in the Fall, helping you understand how your child is developing as the year progresses. In addition, we conduct formal evaluations, to provide a clearer picture of every student’s readiness, including a mid-year assessment and progress report that helps guide families on next steps.

An Intentional Classroom Experience

Each preschool classroom is designed to feel engaging and easy to navigate for young learners.

  • Cubbies for personal belongings at the entrance
  • Tables sized for each age group, with space for small group work
  • Dramatic play centers, such as kitchen areas, puppets, doll houses, trains, blocks, and reading corners
  • A sink and in-room bathroom for convenience, safety, and personal hygiene

As children move from Preschool 3s to PreK, classroom size and structure gradually increase to match their growth and readiness.

A Thoughtful Approach to Safety and Technology

The preschool program is part of a larger K–5 building designed with both safety and structure in mind. From the moment your child arrives, every detail is thoughtfully considered to create an environment where they feel secure, supported, and ready to learn. At the same time, technology in the classroom is approached with care, and only incorporated when it intentionally enhances the learning experience.

  • Secure K–5 building with monitored access
  • Right-sized classes that support attentive care
  • School nurse on campus throughout the day
  • Technology integrated in focused, age-appropriate ways

A Caring Community That Knows Your Child

Teachers at PCS are selected not only for their experience, but for their personal faith and commitment to living out Christ-centered values. Families connect with teachers each day at drop-off, as preschool students are walked directly into the classroom. We have established communication systems, including daily folders with updates and information, weekly newsletters, and emails for important updates.

Your family will also get to be part of school life through events and shared experiences. Seasonal gatherings such as Preschool Harvest Night, themed events like Dr. Seuss Family Night, special events like Mother’s Day Tea, and other activities throughout the year create opportunities for connection among students, parents, and teachers.

“Preschool is often a child’s first experience in a classroom, so it’s important that they feel safe, loved, and excited to learn each day. In our class, we focus on building friendships, learning how to share and communicate, and discovering the world around us through play and exploration. I am constantly inspired by the curiosity, joy, and unique personalities of each child.
